The Divorce Mediation Training is an active, intensive 42 hour training that usually takes place for five (5) consecutive days, from 8:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Some of the course content includes:
The process of mediation
Conflict resolution, problem solving
Emotional "hooks" affecting mediator neutrality
All issues dealing with separation/divorce
Standards and ethics
Starting your own mediation practice
Domestic Violence
Coaching feedback from experienced mediators
One hour for lunch (provided), two 15-minute breaks
Juvenile Mediation Training
The Juvenile Mediation course is a very interactive course designed to prepare mediators to handle cases with youth who have committed status offenses. This would include offenses such as burgulary, underage consumption, disorderly conduct, school related and community based offenses. The course includes lecture, deomonstration, agreement writing and role plays. This is a three (3) day, 21 hour course. Some of the course content includes:
safety and confidentiality in the mediation process
roles of participants in juvenile cases
juvenile law/code
community resources
agreement writing
generational differences and working with youth
terminology and definitions
standards and ethics
feedback for role plays
small and multiparty cases
